How far along do I have to book a reservation in Epcot for dinner?

My family is planning a trip to Disney in 2009. I know that you have to make reservations for dinner in Epcot. Can I make them when I go to the park or do I have to make them before my trip?

you can do it on the day of or as soon as you go to the park, but the time frames would be limited. If it is a really popular restaurant than I would do it a week in advance to get the time I want. When I went I made reservations on the day I was going, but ended up with times like 4:30 for dinner which isn’t bad but I regret not doing it earlier, since reservations go fast at disney.

You can make reservations up to 180 days in advance and for some restaurants it is absolutely necessary. LeCellier in Canada is a very good example of this – they always book well in advance of the date. Princess storybook breakfast in Norway also a good example of when you need an early ADR (Advanced Dining Reservation). Less popular restaurants don’t usually have this problem, and I was very surprised to hear about Teppen Edo. I can’t wait to try it when I go again in October. My advice would be to review menus on a site like allearsnet.com or wdwinfo.com and decide what restaurants you might like to go to and make reservations well in advance of your trip. Call (407)WDW-DINE. If you are like my fiance and don’t like to make and be held to plans, go to Guest Relations when you get into the park or even call the WDW-DINE number on your way to the park in the morning or as you walk in the park, if you don’t want to wait at Guest Relations. Good luck and have fun!

It depending on which restaurant you want to eat in & what time of year you are visiting. You can make reservations up to 6 months in advance. If you make them early, you have a better chance of getting a prime slot like 6:30 or 7:00. If you wait till you get here, your choice will be slim to either one of the first or last reservation (5:00 or 8:30) reservations.
I recommend at least 2 weeks in advance. But if you are here during a holiday or summer, I would reserve 1-2 months in advance.
Canada, Moracco & Japan are the best. Epcot closes every night at 9:00pm. Make sure you are finished in time to watch the light/fireworks show at 9.
Enjoy

We made reservations at Marakesh that morning at customer service at Magic Kingdom. By the way, it’s definitely worth checking out.
