pickpocketing is more common at downtown Disney the "world of disney store" in the holiday time where it gets really packed at that store is when pickpocketing is more common. dont hear it on the news all the time because they keep it hush hush which is what Disney knows how to do best.

I am sure there are pickpocketing at the MK but not as common as free downtown disney. Why would a pickpocketr pay $70 MK to pickpocket.

Pick pockets are everywhere but actually very rare at amusements parks. Most people are there to enjoy just like you are. You should always use caution anywhere. If you are using a backpack keep you valuables in the hardest compartment to get at and make sure you keep it closed up and secure. I personally would never keep money in a backpack. Invest in a fanny pack or money belt for that.

Unfortunately there are thieves everywhere and Disney World is probably a great place for them to steal because of the number of tourists carrying cash. If you are carrying a backpack, maybe you can put one of these little travel locks on the zippers so that it can't be opened be anyone but you and put the key in your pocket. It doesn't have to be a super strong lock or anything but enough for a thief to skip you and move on to an easier target. Pickpockets are slippery and they can steal from people without them even knowing. Someone bumps into you and apologizes and then later you realize that they took your wallet because they distracted you. Or they'll use two people, one to distract and another to steal. I carry a small bag that is slung across my body when I go to Disneyland. My husband sometimes puts his wallet in his front pocket to be safe. It sucks to have to be worried about it but it's reality. There are always lazy jerks who refuse to work for a living who want to take things from those of us who actually live an honest life.

There are thousands of people in the Magic Kingdom everyday and there's no way to know if someone is willing to steal from you so just try and be as smart as you can about it. Make sure you keep all the zippers of you back pack zipped and do not leave it unattended somewhere for someone to pick up and walk off with or for on of the employees to call in an unattended bag and next thing you know they have a canine unit out to sniff your bag to make sure there's nothing dangerous in it. Be prepared to have security look in your bag before you enter the park.
If there's a pick pocket there that really wants to get in your pack back they probably can. Overall I wouldn't worry much about someone going into a bag you have on you. Just pay attention to people around you and you'll be fine.
