Are you planning a trip with your little ones to visit Mickey? Here are some ways to spice up the magic:

Tip #1 – Meals with a Disney flavor

Build up the excitement by cooking creative meals that have a Disney flavor for your kids. For example, you can buy uncooked pasta in the shape of Mickey Mouse and whip up a delicious and healthy meal for your princes and princesses with that. “The Gourmet Pantry” in DTD carries it. You can call them at 407-828-3886 to order.

Tip #2 – Avoid the crowd

Crowds are annoying especially when you have kids with you, so it is wise to go when schools are in session.

Tip #3 – Hands-free

Considering bringing along the Playtex Hip Hammock if you are traveling with an infant/toddler. If your child is between 15 to 35 pounds, the hammock works perfectly. It keeps you hands-free while waiting for the bus, standing in line, tending to your older kids and browsing in shops. You can also take your toddler on rides with the Hammock. This is handy. It will make your trip just that much more enjoyable.

Tip #4 – Save your sanity

Kids get impatient while waiting in line, so bring snacks and toys to distract them. Take frequent breaks to prevent exhausting the kids. In the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, kids can chill out at Ariel’s Grotto and Donald’s Boat. Ariel’s Grotto is a great place for kids to cool off in the kids water area and the interactive play area of Donald’s Boat allows children to ring the bell and steer the ship of Donald’s ill-fated leaky. You may wish to arrive at the parks early in the morning, so that your kids can have a nap in the afternoon. This will keep them refreshed for the parades and fireworks.

Tip #5 – Research rides

It is important to research rides beforehand because young children may be frightened by loud noise or darkness. If your child is too young to ride Test Track at Epcot, a nice alternative is to duck into Test Track’s gift shop/ exit and let him/her ride on the cars in the shop.

Tip #6 – Dining options

There is a free Baby Care Center in each Disney park, so head for one when you are looking at some peace and quiet when feeding your baby/toddler. These centers are equipped with rockers, high chairs, and toys. There are even formula and baby food for sale. Do remember to plan one character meal because your trip won’t be complete if the little ones don’t get to mingle with their favorite characters.

Take your family on a virtual trip around the world. This book is more than a what to see and where to stay touring plan; it is the guide book that will bring the exhibits to life for you and your children.

This theme park opened on the 1st of October, in the year 1971. It has become prominent over the years, because it alone was recognized to be the only place to see in the large complex of the Walt Disney World Resort. Thus, people came to know this single park as Disney World. However, in 1982, Epcot Theme Park was added, followed in succession with the addition of two other destinations: the Disney-MGM Studios (1989) and Disney’s Animal Kingdom (1998). It’s good to note that Disney World’s Magic Kingdom bears a significant resemblance to the Disneyland version in California, except that the Florida version is situated on a far larger area.

The best season to visit WDW’s Magic Kingdom is from Labor Day until Thanksgiving. And from mid-February until mid-March (President’s Day to Spring Break). Normally, the best day to go is any day except Fridays and Saturdays (as locals tend to increase the population significantly on those days). For a tip, it is wise to arrive earlier than the opening time in order to get in first, before the build up of the lines. Doing this, you may get to visit more popular attractions without the long lines. In addition, this allows you to avoid rushing through the parks at a pace that tends to wear most travellers out quickly.

Additionally, when you buy tickets, try not to do so on site. Meaning, book them in advance so that you may receive them earlier. It’s a significant loss of time if you have to line up with the masses at the ticket booths. On top of that, you generally save a bit of extra money by getting them early.

Since 2005, the Magic Your Way ticket was introduced to help ticket buyers eliminate the hustles of ticket buying. It replaces the old system of the “Hopper Pass” as a more flexible option for vacationers. You have the choice of buying tickets ranging from one day to seven days (good for the four major parks). Also, you may choose to add extra options to allow you to do other things (but with extra costs, of course). This may include the visiting of more than one park in a single day, as well as allowing you to lengthen unused days up to 14 days since the tickets were first used.

Moreover, Disney also sells tickets online via their website. Make sure to order them well in advance so that they may be mailed to you as early as possible. Tickets are also available in local clubs (such as AAA), activity offices and Disney Stores. There are hotels that may sell tickets at their front desks as well (of course, those hotels are located in the general area).

If you are bringing kids with you, then it is best to first visit the Hundred-Acre Wood-themed play area designed specifically for toddlers and children. It is located in Fantasyland. Fantasyland has more to offer for children, and normally the lines for these rides build up signifcantly later in the day. It would be wise for attractions like Peter Pan and Dumbo to be your first stop (the lines get horrible as the day progresses, and Dumbo doesn’t move guests through as fast as most rides).

To better enjoy your trip, it is advisable that you plan an itinerary. Some people don’t like rigid schedules (myself included), so you may be better suited getting a basic plan, and improvising on the details from there. Going prepared will save you tons of time and frustration…time better spent enjoying your vacation!

Young and old are fascinated by underwater dwellers. It is fun to watch how fishes swim and glide or how reefs breathe like it has pumping hearts. You will be amazed by how these creatures come together and swim in one direction or how they immediately drifts apart whenever a huge sea creature instantly appears.

You will not definitely experience the fun and adventure of how underwater creatures find solace and enjoyment in their habitat if you will just watch them on television or see it through the pages of a magazine. You need to go out and see them. One way seeing them is to visit aquarium centers. Here are some aquarium centers that might be helpful on your next trip:

Adventure Aquarium

The underwater recreational center in New Jersey take pride of its almost eight thousand underwater dwellers bringing ample of under-the-sea-look-alike sightseeing. If you will visit the place you are to observe different underwater species such as fishes, sea turtles, sharks and more.

Epcot’s Living Seas

Walt Disney World has it! You and your family can enjoy snorkeling or scuba diving in a large aquarium. What is fantastic about it is that you will be able to experience swimming together with the creatures under the sea such as fish, turtles, and even sharks. Be sure to be on your swimming attire if you plan to plunge into the water and mingle with sea creatures. You should not worry though, since there are available guides to help you explore the world under the sea.

Dallas World Aquarium

This aquarium recreational center is located in Dallas, Texas. It does not only boast of an aquarium center, it also showcases different interactive exhibits to portray the vastness of rainforest, the exquisiteness of South Africa, and the hidden beauty in Mundo Maya. Additionally, it is not only adventure that you will encounter; you will also have the opportunity to be environmentally aware. If you will be in Texas, do not forget to visit Dallas World Aquarium and be captivated with fun and adventure the place may bring you.

The great aquarium of the Pacific is located in one of the cities of California – The Long Beach. It is considered as one of the biggest aquariums in the entire United States. It has an estimated 1,000 species, 19 main habitats and about 32 focus exhibits. When you visit Long Beach and witness the aquarium, it is as if you are in the three regions of the Pacific Ocean at the same time. These regions are the Southern California or the Baja, Northern Pacific and the Tropical Pacific.

The Long Beach aquarium has a height of 156,735 ft. It has a sweeping, wave-like and curving architecture which is intended to imitate the ocean. It has more than 12,000 marine animals with the inclusion of five classes of whales, dolphins, rays, eleven classes of sharks, and skates such as the manta rays, birds, sea turtles, bears, and over 10,000 mussels. It also has natural exhibit accessories and more than 10,000 individual and artificial coral which represent 58 different species of coral.

The aquarium itself gives the scene trips where anyone can dive into the world of the underwater and witness the virgin places in this Aquarium and feed some of the animals. All of the visitors in the Aquarium are encouraged to witness animal feedings and also learn everything about animals and some of the environmental issues presented in a habitat showcase.

The Long Beach Aquarium can be found at 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach City, California. It is easy to get there, when you have a car you can just park it on the Shoreline Drive located in between Aquarium Way and Chestnut Palace. The parking fee in the Aquarium is only $6 especially if you present a stub of the Aquarium ticket.

Visiting the Aquarium will provide total fun since you can make the trip by taking the Aquabus, a harbor shuttle which connects the Catalina Express, Catalina Landing and the Coastal Hotel. The Long Beach Aquarium is open everyday except on Christmas Day and during the Long Beach Grand Prix weekend.

The admission rate is $18.95 for adults, $10.95 for children ages 3 to 11, $16.95 for senior ages 60 years or over and children under 2 years old can get in for free.

The Aquarium is a great destination for a weekend escapade. So, never hesitate to experience the wonders and beauty of marine life in the Long Beach Aquarium.

It is not only fascination and adventure that aquarium recreational centers may bring to you and your family. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about underwater creatures, their habitats and other related matters.

Take your family on a virtual trip around the world. This book is more than a what to see and where to stay touring plan; it is the guide book that will bring the exhibits to life for you and your children. Take your family on a trip to Norway to see the Viking ship, but first study Viking history. Did you know that the Norwegian king was given the Gospel on a trip to England, which led to the end of the Viking era. But, what would the worlds greatest shipbuilders and sailors do for a living if they weren’t Vikings? They used their skills to build churches, some of which are still standing today. An example of a Stave church can be seen in the Norwegian pavilion. Take your family on a trip to Mexico and shop for your favorite pinata in the marketplace, but first study the history of this game. Spanish missionaries arrived to find the Mayans playing a game that they then used to help illustrate Biblical truths. Did you know? Try it! Get into hands on activities while making pretzels together (recipe included), while you study German foods, then try even more authentic recipes at the Biergarten. Moms: Use this book of unit studies to impress dad. It was researched and written by a Christian home schooling family and would be a great asset to any curriculum, with or without a visit to Epcot (although that would be a world class field trip to top off the school year). Dads: Buy this book for yourself and read it before you go. Impress your family with your expertise in every pavilion! Then, you can pass the book on to the kids when you get home from your vacation, so they can do the hundreds of activities in this guide book, and learn even more. Not only will they learn more, the vacation experience will be extended throughout the year, as you say, remember when we saw this?… let’s learn more about that. >>Read More

On October 1, 1982, The Walt Disney Company opened its EPCOT Center to the world, heralding changes that would take the Disney property in Florida from a mere theme park to a world-class resort destination. Authors Steve Alcorn and David Green were there, as employees of Disney’s WED Imagineering. “Building a Better Mouse” tells the tale of the “hundreds of mostly young, mostly bright and all embarrassingly idealistic people” who worked on Epcot, and gives a unique insider’s perspective on what it was like to be in the trenches as a Disney Imagineer in the early 1980s, from pixie dusting – when new employees are indoctrinated into all things Disney – through the craziness of the engineering design process, right up until the last frantic dash to opening day. It is a breathtaking, breezy, E-ticket ride of a book, required reading for both hard-core Disneyphiles and people interested in the business side of themed entertainment. >>Read More

The Imagineering Field Guide series answers the question: “What would it be like to walk through a Disney park with an Imagineer by your side?” A lot of fun, actually! And extremely interesting. The Imagineering Field Guide to Epcot at Walt Disney World provides that experience-explaining large concepts and pointing out subtle details, revealing stories, back stories, and Imagineering insights never before heard, and showing sketches, paintings, and schematics used to develop the look of each attraction, condensed into a portable, easily referenced park guide. These user-friendly, beautifully illustrated guides are innovative and entertaining books that will enrich the guests’ time at the happiest places on earth. And now the series is being updated to include all the new attractions, shows, and lands in the Disney parks. Who better to tour you around the Disney parks than the Imagineers who created them?
If anyone could corner the millennium, Disney could. In presenting the theme music to its millennium celebration at Epcot Center in Florida, the megacorporation attempts a grand, musical year-2000 salute. Naturally, World Millennium Celebration weaves plenty of fiery brass, warm sting passages, stirring voices, and a mix of space romance and Earth adventure into the fabric of this fantasy work. Executive Music Producer Steve Skorija’s task seems to be providing a backdrop for live performance, a scrim to unfurl behind the spectacle. And in doing so, the themes “Reflections of Earth,” “We Go On,” “Tapestry of Nations,” “Promise,” and “Celebrate the Future Hand in Hand” (complete as a gospel version as well) have an “Up with People” undercurrent that is ambiguous even as it is mildly diverting. On those merits, Millennium Celebration succeeds as a score. But for sheer entertainment value, the CD needs to give us more of the legendary mouse’s magic and less of its roar. –Martin Keller >>Read More

Did you ever sit down with your family to plan your next vacation and then realize that you just couldn’t find that special somewhere where the parents and the kids, and perhaps another relative or 2, could all find something interesting to do?

And on top of that, maybe you’ve been to all the interesting places within your travel budget anyway? Well then you probably haven’t been to Orlando, Florida. Otherwise you’d realize that even Orlando ‘V-V’s’ (Vacation Veterans) can always find something to see and do in Orlando that they didn’t do the last time they were here, or even the time before that.

I’ve long wondered what it is about Orlando that draws so many people to this, the sixth largest city in Florida. Well, a city of less than 200,000 people that draws about 52,000,000 (yes, Million!) tourists a year must be doing something right.

It’s almost an understatement to say that the good people of the city want to give you the chance to see and do something new and fun (or even something old and fun, because many of the city’s attractions do bear repeated visits).

This attitude, and the countless opportunities for the fun-loving and health-loving and education-loving visitor, is one reason that Orlando is called ‘the amusement capital of the world’, as well as ‘the city beautiful’.

Step by step I’ll take you through a lot of the city’s tourist attractions (not the least of which are the fine accommodations for visitors, from hotel rooms to fully equipped apartments). In this article I’ll start with some of the more famous attractions, since these are what many people are initially interested in.
Not that you’re unfamiliar with Disney World. We may safely label it as the world’s favorite children’s theme park.

This grand creation has 4 different theme parks full of shows, rides and other attractions. As well it provides plenty of shopping and eating opportunities for those who may be ‘themed’ out for awhile.

The first park is Magic Kingdom, Disney’s first theme park. Second is Animal Kingdom Park, combining an animal experience with classic rides, attractions and shows. Epcot Park takes you into the future, cleverly combining fun and learning. The MGM Studios contains among many other things, a tower of terror which is pleasant looking from outside but may, once you’re inside, frighten your heart out.

Another famous tourist haven in Orlando is Universal Orlando Resort, which has five theme parks, including the Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida, Wet ‘n Wild Water Park, Sea World, and Busch Gardens. Add to this the dining, nightlife and shopping venues and you may just find the ideal place for at least one full vacation. The resort also contains the Universal Studios where you can enjoy the ride while watching movies. If you have a budding Hollywood star in your brood they can learn how movies are made and the secrets behind some movie effects. Within this resort each theme park stands alone.

Perhaps two of them at this resort are most famous One is The Islands of Adventure, which certainly live up to their name, with wild rides and roller coasters in this quite new park in Orlando.
There is also Sea World, a well known aquatic park, which offers breath-taking rides as well as animal shows where you can see smart animals doing their amazing stunts.

We are just scratching the surface of this amazing town. We’ll follow up with more on Orlando in future articles and I won’t be surprised if you write me sometime to say you’ve planned several vacations there for the near future.

If you’re planning on visiting Florida then Kissimmee is where you want to be. What makes Kissimmee so great? What, the fact that it’s close to everything isn’t enough for you? Staying in Kissimmee puts you right in the middle of it all, so if you want to do it all Kissimmee, Florida is your best chance at accomplishing that goal.

Just a short drive away you’ll find:

- Disney’s Cruise Lines

- Florida’s famous beaches

- Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex

- Ocala National Forest

- Disney MGM Studios

- Richard Petty Driving Experience

- Epcot

And that’s just a small taste of the permanent action when vacationing in Florida. Every year special shows and events come to Florida for the sun and surf. To help you plan your trip, get more information on the great activities available at websites such as FloridaKiss.

Consider a Vacation Rental Home

When you make the decision to stay in Kissimmee for your Florida vacation, in addition to which of the great activities you’re going to partake of you should consider where you’re going to stay. If you want to make it truly memorable trip, forget the hotels and stay in a vacation rental home.

Why choose a vacation home rental over a hotel? To start with, vacation rental homes are often very competitively priced with premium hotels, and the advantages over hotels are many:

- Privacy

- More and larger luxuries, such as hot tubs and onsite laundry

- Multiple bedrooms

- Space

- Feeling of luxury

Finding the Perfect Vacation Home Rental

There are a few things you’ll want to consider when choosing a vacation home. First is location. If you’re visiting Florida, then a vacation home in Kissimmee is a great place due to its central location.

New services from online companies utilizing real-time database technologies allow you to search thousands of vacation home listings online with ease. Wherever you are looking to vacation, modern technology allows you to find the perfect vacation home in a snap.

Next, know what you’re getting into. A good vacation home rental site will be able to provide plenty of pictures. Unlike hotel rooms, vacation home rentals are privately owned homes, and every house differs. Make sure that the house you rent has the amenities you want, will provide you with appropriate comforts, and isn’t an old beat up barn.

If you aren’t able to get photos from a vacation-rental website, try contacting the home owner directly to ask if they can email some updated photos to you.

During the final months of his life, Walt Disney was consumed with the world-wide problems of cities. His development concept at the time of his death on December 15th, 1966 would be his team’s conceptual response to the ills of the inner cities and the sprawl of the megalopolis: the “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” or, as it became known, EPCOT. This beautifully written, instantly engrossing volume focuses on the original concept of EPCOT, which was conceived by Disney as an experimental community of about 20,000 people on the Disney World property in central Florida. With its radial plan, 50-acre town center enclosed by a dome, themed international shopping area, greenbelt, high-density apartments, satellite communities, monorail and underground roads, the original EPCOT plan is reminiscent of post-war Stockholm and the British New Towns, as well as today’s transit-oriented development theory. Unfortunately, Disney himself did not live long enough to witness the realization of his “model city.” However, EPCOT’s evolution into projects such as the EPCOT Center and the town of Celebration displays a remarkable commitment by the Disney organization to the original EPCOT philosophy, one which continues to have relevance in the fields of planning and development. >>Read More
