Live the magic of Disneyland and Disney World all year long with this enchanting game that brings the Magic Kingdom into your own living room! Travel along the 3D game board, visiting such famed attractions as the Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, the Sleeping Beauty Castle, and Mickey’s Country House. Try to get autographs from Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, but watch out for opponents who will try to send you on a wild goose chase around the park. The first player to visit all of their attractions and make it back to the park entrance, wins the game! It’s a magical game the whole family can enjoy. Comes with Magic Kingdom Game Board, 6 Plastic Attractions with Backgrounds, 5 Family Pawns and Stands, 1 Mickey Mouse Pawn, 1 Donald Duck Pawn, 2 Dice, 30 Attraction Cards, 34 Event Cards, 2 Autograph Cards, Label Sheet, and Game Instructions. For 2 – 5 Players, Ages 6 and Up.Disney has always been masterful at two key initiatives: producing memorable children’s entertainment and marketing that same entertainment with overwhelming force. In this promotional board game, players attempt to move a family around a Disney theme park, stopping at various points along the way including Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Frontierland, and the Country Bears. Mickey, Donald, Peter Pan, Snow White, the Lion King characters, and various other familiar characters make appearances. As a game, it may deepen a child’s love for their Disney brand friends or simply reinforce the feelings that child already has. The game is also a bit complex and may be too tricky for younger children although if they play on a team with older kids or adults, they should be fine. Parents considering this game should be prepared to answer the question “when can we go to a REAL Disney park?” –Charlie Williams >>Read More

Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories bridges the gap between the original Kingdom Hearts and the sequel, Kingdom Hearts II. Chain of Memories from Square Enix for the Sony PlayStation 2 is a complete 3D remake of the original Game Boy Advance release from 2004. This “bridge” installment was released in Japan in 2007 as part of the Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+ compilation before finally making its way to North America. Combined with the card battle system of the original Game Boy Advance release, Chain of Memories for PS2 presents Kingdom Hearts fans with an entirely new gameplay experience. .caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -15px; } table.callout { font-family: verdana; font-size: 11px; line-height: 1. 3em; } td.vgoverview { height: 125px; background: #9DC4D8 url(http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-bg.png) repeat-x; border-left: 1px solid #999999; border-right: 1px solid #999999; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-bottom: 10px; width: 250px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; } This remake of the GBA original features improved graphics. The Prologue The story begins with Sora, Donald and Goofy wandering through endless fields. Eventually, they come to a crossroad. Standing in the crossroads, Sora gazes up at the night sky and thinks of his lost friends. From the distance, a mysterious man approaches from one of the roads. “Ahead lies something you need,” he says, “but to claim it you must lose something dear.” The man vanishes, revealing a single path that leads to the eery Castle Oblivion, which resembles a girl’s drawing. The Story After this encounter, Sora, Donald, and Goofy go their separate ways. Soon, on a night when his island home is besieged by a mysterious storm, Sora is whisked away to an unfamiliar burg known as Traverse Town. There he meets Donald and Goofy, and learns that there are strange things happening in the world. Donald and Goofy set off to look for their missing king, and Sora joins them to search for his lost friend, Riku. After a long journey that takes them across numerous worlds, Sora and friends finally find Riku and the lost king. But to save all the worlds, Sora must use his Keyblade to close the door to darkness, even though Riku and the king are on the other side. Believing the king’s parting words — there will always be a door to the light — Sora locks the door, and the trio sets out on yet another journey. The Characters The cast of Chain of Memories combines Kingdom Hearts characters with familiar Disney faces. Sora, is a 14-year-old boy and the hero of this tale. Although a little naive, Sora has an uncommon sense of justice. On his journey, Sora is accompanied by Donald, a court wizard who shares a striking resemblance to Donald the Duck of Disney fame, and the clumsy, easy-going captain of the Disney Castle Royal Knights, Goofy. Other characters include the mysterious, shrouded man from the crossroads; Sora’s lost friend, Riku, a 15-year-old boy who is cool and collected; the lost King, who bares a striking resemblance to Mickey Mouse; and Kairi, a 14-year-old girl who’s friends with Sora and Riku. Almost more strange than the man at the crossroads, a mysterious girl, Namine, draws pictures inside Castle Oblivion under close surveillance of an evil organization. As the story alludes, she may hold the key to Sora’s most special memories. >>Read More

Part biography and part cultural analysis, Steven Watts’s The Magic Kingdom sheds new light on the cultural icon of “Uncle Walt.” Watts also digs deeply into Disney’s private life, investigating his roles as husband, father, and brother and providing fresh insight into his peculiar psyche – his genuine folksiness and warmth, his domineering treatment of colleagues and friends, his deepest prejudices and passions. Full of colorful sketches of daily life at the Disney Studio and tales about the creation of Disneyland and Disney World, The Magic Kingdom offers a definitive view of one of the most influential Americans of the twentieth century. >>Read More

Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories bridges the gap between the original Kingdom Hearts and the sequel, Kingdom Hearts II. Chain of Memories from Square Enix for the Sony PlayStation 2 is a complete 3D remake of the original Game Boy Advance release from 2004. This “bridge” installment was released in Japan in 2007 as part of the Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+ compilation before finally making its way to North America. Combined with the card battle system of the original Game Boy Advance release, Chain of Memories for PS2 presents Kingdom Hearts fans with an entirely new gameplay experience. .caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -15px; } table.callout { font-family: verdana; font-size: 11px; line-height: 1. 3em; } td.vgoverview { height: 125px; background: #9DC4D8 url(http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-bg.png) repeat-x; border-left: 1px solid #999999; border-right: 1px solid #999999; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-bottom: 10px; width: 250px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; } This remake of the GBA original features improved graphics. View larger. Donald and Goofy will lead you to spectacular adventures. View larger. You’ll meet and get advice from many familiar faces. View larger. >>Read More

This theme park opened on the 1st of October, in the year 1971. It has become prominent over the years, because it alone was recognized to be the only place to see in the large complex of the Walt Disney World Resort. Thus, people came to know this single park as Disney World. However, in 1982, Epcot Theme Park was added, followed in succession with the addition of two other destinations: the Disney-MGM Studios (1989) and Disney’s Animal Kingdom (1998). It’s good to note that Disney World’s Magic Kingdom bears a significant resemblance to the Disneyland version in California, except that the Florida version is situated on a far larger area.

The best season to visit WDW’s Magic Kingdom is from Labor Day until Thanksgiving. And from mid-February until mid-March (President’s Day to Spring Break). Normally, the best day to go is any day except Fridays and Saturdays (as locals tend to increase the population significantly on those days). For a tip, it is wise to arrive earlier than the opening time in order to get in first, before the build up of the lines. Doing this, you may get to visit more popular attractions without the long lines. In addition, this allows you to avoid rushing through the parks at a pace that tends to wear most travellers out quickly.

Additionally, when you buy tickets, try not to do so on site. Meaning, book them in advance so that you may receive them earlier. It’s a significant loss of time if you have to line up with the masses at the ticket booths. On top of that, you generally save a bit of extra money by getting them early.

Since 2005, the Magic Your Way ticket was introduced to help ticket buyers eliminate the hustles of ticket buying. It replaces the old system of the “Hopper Pass” as a more flexible option for vacationers. You have the choice of buying tickets ranging from one day to seven days (good for the four major parks). Also, you may choose to add extra options to allow you to do other things (but with extra costs, of course). This may include the visiting of more than one park in a single day, as well as allowing you to lengthen unused days up to 14 days since the tickets were first used.

Moreover, Disney also sells tickets online via their website. Make sure to order them well in advance so that they may be mailed to you as early as possible. Tickets are also available in local clubs (such as AAA), activity offices and Disney Stores. There are hotels that may sell tickets at their front desks as well (of course, those hotels are located in the general area).

If you are bringing kids with you, then it is best to first visit the Hundred-Acre Wood-themed play area designed specifically for toddlers and children. It is located in Fantasyland. Fantasyland has more to offer for children, and normally the lines for these rides build up signifcantly later in the day. It would be wise for attractions like Peter Pan and Dumbo to be your first stop (the lines get horrible as the day progresses, and Dumbo doesn’t move guests through as fast as most rides).

To better enjoy your trip, it is advisable that you plan an itinerary. Some people don’t like rigid schedules (myself included), so you may be better suited getting a basic plan, and improvising on the details from there. Going prepared will save you tons of time and frustration…time better spent enjoying your vacation!

The Imagineering Field Guide series answers the question: “What would it be like to walk through a Disney park with an Imagineer by your side?” A lot of fun, actually! And extremely interesting. The Imagineering Field Guide to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World provides that experience-explaining large concepts and pointing out subtle details, revealing stories, back stories, and Imagineering insights never before heard, and showing sketches, paintings, and schematics used to develop the look of each attraction, condensed into a portable, easily referenced park guide. These user-friendly, beautifully illustrated guides are innovative and entertaining books that will enrich the guests’ time at the happiest places on earth. And now the series is being updated to include all the new attractions, shows, and lands in the Disney parks. Who better to tour you around the Disney parks than the Imagineers who created them? And what better than to have the most recent insider information? It’s all in the Imagineering Field Guides. >>Read More

Take your family on a virtual trip around the world. This book is more than a what to see and where to stay touring plan; it is the guide book that will bring the exhibits to life for you and your children. Take your family on a trip to Norway to see the Viking ship, but first study Viking history. Did you know that the Norwegian king was given the Gospel on a trip to England, which led to the end of the Viking era. But, what would the worlds greatest shipbuilders and sailors do for a living if they weren’t Vikings? They used their skills to build churches, some of which are still standing today. An example of a Stave church can be seen in the Norwegian pavilion. Take your family on a trip to Mexico and shop for your favorite pinata in the marketplace, but first study the history of this game. Spanish missionaries arrived to find the Mayans playing a game that they then used to help illustrate Biblical truths. Did you know? Try it! Get into hands on activities while making pretzels together (recipe included), while you study German foods, then try even more authentic recipes at the Biergarten. Moms: Use this book of unit studies to impress dad. It was researched and written by a Christian home schooling family and would be a great asset to any curriculum, with or without a visit to Epcot (although that would be a world class field trip to top off the school year). Dads: Buy this book for yourself and read it before you go. Impress your family with your expertise in every pavilion! Then, you can pass the book on to the kids when you get home from your vacation, so they can do the hundreds of activities in this guide book, and learn even more. Not only will they learn more, the vacation experience will be extended throughout the year, as you say, remember when we saw this?… let’s learn more about that. >>Read More

Designing Disney sets into history and puts into context the extraordinary contributions of the late John Hench, who, at the age of 94, still came into his office at Imagineering each day. His principles of theme park design, character design, and use of color made him a legendary figure, not only for Disney fans but also for students and aficionados of architecture, engineering, and design. Designing Disney reveals the magic behind John’s great discoveries and documents his groundbreaking in several key areas: “Design Philosophy” examines the values, attitudes, aesthetics, and logic that went into the original concepts for Disney theme parks. In “The Art of the Show” and “The Art of Color,” Hench reveals the essence of what makes the parks work so well. And in “The Art of Character,” he lets the reader in on the how and why of the Disney characters’ inherent popularity-their timeless human traits, archetypal shape and gestures that suggest these qualities graphically, and their emotional resonance in our lives. >>Read More
