>>Read More

Although the city is pleasant to visit any time of the year, in October the number of summer tourists has declined, the city centre is not so crowded and attractions are less busy than in the summer months. The temperature in October is warm but crisp, perfect to walk around the city and explore its many outdoor markets and cobbled streets. There are many different accommodations in France and Paris, from luxury hotel to hostel, from bed and breakfast to cheap hotel. If you travel with your partner or kids, there is something for everyone in every price range.

Parc Asterix, a giant theme park, for young and old, on the outskirts of Paris is based on the adventures of the favorite cartoon characters, Asterix and Obelix. They take you on an entertaining and educating tour through ancient Gaul, the Roman Empire and the middle Ages. Since April 1992, France has another exciting attraction for children from the age of 2-80, Disneyland Paris, located on the eastern side of Paris. Besides the popular Disney characters, you can also visit the Musée de la Curiosité et de la Magie, where you can take a guided tour through the history of magic, rounded off with a stunning conjuring display. The kids will love it, and I am sure you secretly will do too! There are many choices of accommodation around these parks as well, so if your main goal is to visit these parks then you do not have to travel very far. If you do not have time to go to one of the theme parks, then there are plenty hotels and many other things to do in Paris.

Paris is an international capital of art, fashion and style. To most people it is seen as a romantic destination, ideal for honeymooners, lovers and adulterers. Paris, however, has many hidden depths and can be a good choice for a family holiday as it offers many activities and entertainments that appeal to all ages and types.

If it is your first visit to France or Paris then you cannot go home without paying a visit to the obvious sites like the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Notre Dame Cathedral. If you have been walking around the city and you are tired, then do not worry, what better way to see these famous monuments and sights but on an open topped double Decker English bus? I promise you a fun and less tiring way to travel around the city and entertaining for all ages.

In downtown Paris you will find the Grévin wax museum with a theatre of magic tricks and fantasy mirrors that transform you into a short, tall, thin or fat person. It’s based on Madame Tussaud’s in London, and has very realistic wax models of famous people and important historical events too, so is educational as well as fun. Some famous people include Charles de Gaulle of France and John Kennedy of the USA, Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin.

There are a large number of beautiful gardens and parks to be found within the city centre. In the autumn months these are full of colour and flowers and an ideal place for a picnic, some even provide old fashioned donkey rides and merry-go-rounds.

If you visit Paris in the summer months you will find the city buzzing with festivals, fetes, events and shows, expect to see anything from a puppet show to a funfair or an open-air music concert; there is always something happening to keep you and your family busy.

Even though Paris is a city, it is honestly easy to visit with children. French people love kids and there are plenty of things to keep them busy and entertained. Before you go, introduce your kids to Paris, let them watch ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ for example and show them pictures of the Eiffel Tower. You could even learn a few French words together, like Ca va? and Bonjiour, and get to know the locals!

When travelling with children, it is a mistake to try and save money by selecting a cheaper hotel that may well be located on the outer edges of the city and a distance from popular activities. A city centre accommodation in Paris can mean all the difference to your holiday as there won’t be far to travel to the attractions, it will be easy to return to the hotel if there is some kind of emergency and children have less time to get tired and irritable as there is no need for public transport.

>>Read More

This guide offers the best attractions to suit different ages and is packed with fun challenges and quizzes that bring the city to life.
If you’re planning to take a train from London to Paris, then Eurostar is the way to go. Eurostar is a high-speed train service that provides a super-fast connection from London to Paris. The service operates from London’s St. Pancras International Station to the Gare du Nord Station in the heart of Paris. Services from London to Disneyland Resort Paris and other seasonal destinations in France are also available.

Eurostar is a viable alternative to air travel from the UK to Europe. Eurostar London Paris train takes just 2 hours and 15 minutes. The actual flying time for a London to Paris flight might be less than the train ride, but if you consider the time spent in commuting to and from the airport and the waiting time in between, then Eurostar definitely works out faster. This train is also more comfortable and convenient than flying. Journeys can turn out to be excellent sightseeing tours as trains pass through the beautiful the countryside of Kent and Northern France. Meals are served on board for Business Premier First Class passengers and are accompanied by metal cutlery and half-bottles of wine, on the house. Eurostar is a 100% non-smoking service.

Eurostar London to Paris fares start at £59 return on 2nd class. First class fares cost £149 return. The basic cost of an air ticket may be lower, but if you include airport taxes and the cost of commuting between city and airport, Eurostar tickets are likely to work out cheaper. Trains ply from St. Pancras International in Central London to Gare du Nord in Central Paris, at approximately one hour intervals, on all days of the year barring Christmas Day. Trains to Brussels are slightly less frequent. Some trains also stop at Ebsfleet International, Ashford International and Lille to pick up passengers. Lille is the primary interchange point for French TGV high-speed trains.

Eurostar London Paris train have an excellent track record of reaching their destinations on time. On an average over 90% of trains arrive on time or within 15 minutes of their scheduled times, in contrast to just 62.3% for flights on the same route. Eurostar is therefore the preferred mode of travel and it is no surprise that Eurostar Paris trains have captured over 70% of the London to Paris market from airlines.

Each of the main entries in the book examines in detail the history of a Disneyland® landmark, including how many of the most popular attractions went through several incarnations before becoming what they are today—Tomorrowland’s Hall of Chemistry and Hall of Aluminum were transformed into the groundbreaking Adventure Thru Inner Space in 1967, and then became the popular ride Star Tours 20 years later.
You have probably heard a few “interesting facts” about Disneyland over the years. Perhaps you’ve heard that Walt Disney kept an apartment on Main Street? Or that there is a secret, members-only club in New Orleans Square? It’s all true… but these are only two of the interesting facts pointed out in “101 Things You Never Knew About Disneyland.” Many of the stories here deal with more obscure, yet equally interesting, histories of Disneyland. In fact, the majority of the material comes straight from interviews with the Imagineers who helped to build, maintain, and revitalize Disneyland. The book pays special attention to the inside jokes and hidden references to Disneyland’s past, as these samples illustrate: Do you know which play on words pays tribute to a former Mexican restaurant at a certain site? Do you know how Tarzan’s Treehouse honors its predecessor in two different ways? Do you know what is so unusual about the decorations atop “It’s a Small World”? Do you know why one palm tree in Adventureland is special? Do you know what the sign says at the bottom of Splash Mountain’s big drop? Do you know which pumpkin is an homage to a Disneyland official? It’s a certainty that you haven’t heard all these stories before. Although there are 101 such highlighted stories, each comes with a fuller description and is followed by a second story that is thematically related, so this volume really offers 202 Things you haven’t heard about Disneyland before. You will find these facts delightful and unforgettable once you’ve heard them! >>Read More

A special presentation of four Disneyland television specials – The Disneyland Story, Dateline Disneyland, Operation Disneyland, Disneyland After Dark – plus The Disneyland 10th Anniversary Show, all originally broadcast between 1955 and 1970, and hosted by Walt Disney himself. Also includes additional archival footage of Disneyland’s opening day and other rare materials. Introduction by Leonard Maltin. To finance Disneyland he wanted to build, Walt Disney turned to the new medium of television. As host Leonard Maltin notes on this two- disc set of televised specials for the amusement park, Disney used the series to promote it, “and no one seemed to mind.” ABC agreed to invest in return for a weekly one-hour program. The “Disneyland” TV show premiered on October 27, 1954: “Disneyland Story” introduced the park and its various lands, which would be the subject of future programs. The opening-day special, “Dateline Disneyland” (July 17, 1955), attracted an estimated audience of 90 million–virtually every television household in America. Hosted by Art Linkletter, Robert Cummings, and Ronald Reagan, the live broadcast includes such unplanned moments as Linkletter searching frantically for a microphone in Fantasyland. The Tenth Anniversary show (January 3, 1965) features cameos of Mary Blair and Marc Davis, two celebrated animation artists. Home movie footage of Walt pacing off distances at the barren site in Anaheim is intercut with peeks at forthcoming attractions. “Disneyland After Dark” (April 15, 1962) offers performances by Annette Funicello, Bobby Burgess, Bobby Rydell, Louis Armstrong, and a prepubescent quartet of Osmond Brothers.

Disneyland is the ultimate place to take your children for fun, fantasy and an exciting time they will never forget and with the Disneyland Resort Paris being accessible to over 300 million people that can fly there in under two hours and around 60 million people that can get there with not more than a 4 hour drive, it is the perfect destination for anyone living in Europe.

Plans to build a Disney park in Europe were first discussed in the 1970’s, yet construction did not begin until the 1980’s at the location just outside of Paris and it was first opened in 1992.

It did not have that instant success the owners hoped for, but many years down the road, Disneyland Paris Resort has become one of the most popular holiday destinations throughout Europe and with the complex expanding to include the Disneyland Park with its five themed areas and the Walt Disney Studios Park that opened in 2002, it does not take much imagination to know why it is so popular now!

When it comes to the themed areas, we found the Fantasy Land with the Disney characters such as Snow White and Mickey Mouse was a highlight for the young children especially the girls, but the boys loved Frontier Land, which has a Wild West theme and it even brought back childhood memories of playing Cowboys and Indians for the adults that never seem to grow up!

Disneyland Paris is open every single day of the year without exception and has a completely different feel in winter compared to summer, but whatever time of year you visit, you are sure to have a lasting memory of the fantasy castle that is the centrepiece of the whole park.

The Sleeping Beauty’s Castle or in French called Le Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant, is a truly magical sight that was inspired by classic fairytale illustrations rather than being based purely on a true chateau like the castle at Disneyland Florida and everyone loved going down to the dungeons, but for us it was the terrific view from the castle balcony where we could see some of the other things we wanted to explore that made us realise we should have arranged to be there longer!

Something you will find when at Disneyland Paris is the amount of different types of restaurants and snack places offering a wide choice of cuisine and catering for every budget, plus they are all designed around the theme for whatever area of the park you are at. So from hotdogs to pizza and Mexican to French cuisine, plus sandwiches, cakes, pastries and ice cream, there is always going to be something that everyone will enjoy, but our favourite place to eat was the Cowboy Cookout, which is in a barn and they had a country music band playing at the time, while we were eating our BBQ chicken!

But Disneyland Paris has expanded so much since being open a day is not really enough time to enjoy everything, so staying at one of the themed hotels can be a great experience in itself and with 7 hotels to choose from like one with rustic charm to one that makes you feel like you are in a desert, they cater for all budgets and some will not break the bank.

Yet thinking about the costs, there are some great deals available at all different times of the year including deals such as children under 7 going free, an extra night for the same cost, etc, so you do not really need to have large pockets, although do make sure you have enough spending money for all of those gifts, souvenirs, food and extras that you know the children keep begging for, especially with the large amount of fantastic shops on site!

And you cannot forget about the Walt Disney Studios Park either, which is another reason why we feel you need more than a day here, as here you can even have a tour of a recording studio and view rock memorabilia including signed guitars on display.

The whole park has a great amount of different attractions that will cater for every age group, so apart from the fabulous roller coaster rides, if you would rather keep your feet firmly on the ground then there are some terrific shows featuring the well-known Disney characters, plus there is a very good 18-hole golf course and the Disney Village has lots of restaurants and shops, which are open after the park closes, so you will never run out of places to go and things to see and do.
