A vacation to Walt Disney appeals not only to children but adults as well. It can become a memorable experience for everyone since there is always something for everyone and this is probably the biggest reason for its popularity as well as why the families continue to visit there even after being there several times over the years. It is essential not only to reduce the resulting financial burden but also to ensure that you get the most out of the time there while on Disney vacations. You have to consider doing a plan well in advance if you are seriously thinking of Walt Disney vacation. To help you understand what a Walt Disney vacation is all about you can do a research online. Walt Disney World Vacations are very pricey and it is an important thing to keep in mind. However the prices differ depending on the time of year you want to travel and Disney is busier at certain particular times of the year than others.

You should choose to go to Disneyland or Disney World during the off-season and this way you can also book a vacation right on Disney’s website. Special Disney vacation packages which include airfare and hotels are offered by the other online travel sites. There is always a good deal to be found for a bargain hunter regardless of whether you travel during peak seasons or not since Disney land and Disney world are such hot vacation spots. However it is better to travel during the less busy times whenever possible.

The feeling of Disney vacations always remains unique every time even though you have visited there a number of times. You can also keep a lookout for Disney anniversary specials and with just a little planning you can enjoy great saving deals on your next Disney vacation as well.

Fifty years ago, Walt Disney utterly transformed the concept of outdoor entertainment venues from tawdry carnivals and seedy amusement piers called “amusement parks,” to an entirely new destination that would come into common vernacular as the “theme park.” Although Disneyland was the inspiration of one man, Walt did not achieve this history-altering concept on his own. Using his innate talent for combining disparate skills and personalities, he assembled a creative team that blended imagination with engineering. Walt called this group his “Imagineers.” Walt Disney’s Legends of Imagineering and the Genesis of the Disney Theme Park introduces a core group of the originators of Disneyland and the other Disney parks. It explores their individual relationships with Walt and each other, their creative breakthroughs and failures, and their rivalries and professional politics. This candid narrative of their lives and contributions to a very special form of entertainment illustrates why, half a century later, their work continues to be vital and important to millions of people every day, and all over the world. Lavishly illustrated throughout with rare and never-before-seen artwork and photographs, Walt Disney’s Legends of Imagineering and the Genesis of the Disney Theme Park will further enrich the reader’s appreciation of the exceptional talent behind Disneyland’s creation and ongoing evolution. >>Read More

American Express Vacations is offering new and improved California vacation packages. California is called the golden state because of its famous gold rush in 1849. But in actuality, it’s the golden state because of its beautiful weather. This beach side state is known for its laid back attitude towards life, making it a popular travel destination. Besides the beautiful Southern California weather, this state offers visitors a huge array of attractions and activities that create a magnificent vacation for people of all ages.

Orange County

Southern California is so large and diverse, that American Express Travel has effectively broken up into three areas of interest. The first is Orange County. Made popular by the recent television show, the OC, Orange County contains some of the most popular beaches in the continental United States. These beaches offer surfers some of the best terrain to employ their sport.

On the edge of Orange County is one of the most famous childhood institutions ever mad: Disneyland! This resort has grown quite a lot in the last ten years, and now hosts three Disney owned hotels, the original Disneyland theme park and a new park called California Adventure. The area is full of many other hotels that cater to family travelers. And literally down the road from Disneyland is Angels stadium, home to the 2002 World Champion baseball team the Angeles.

Los Angeles

The next important section of California is the Los Angeles area. Home to big business, this booming metropolitan area is home to some pretty famous landmarks. Stop by Alvera Street to experience the cities Latin influences and to see Union Station. Visit downtowns garment district for some great discount shopping.

Don’t miss the La Brea Tar Pits and the Page museum, which can be found on Museum Rom near the LA County Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum. See the new Los Angeles Cathedral while checking out the Disney Concert Hall, the Dorothy Chandler, and the Ahmenson Theater. With so much to do, you’ll never be board.

Hollywood

About forty minutes from downtown, experience the magic of Hollywood. Your first stop should be Grauman’s Chinese Theater. You can get a tour of the original theater in all its glory, or actually see a movie in one of the theaters refurbished sections. Then step outside to see the hand and footprints of some of the biggest stars to ever live. Maybe your hands fit into the prints of Clark Gable or Harrison Ford. Stand where Shirley Temple once danced and Judy Garland sang. See the star walk of fame that lines the streets outside the theater. Just next-door is the Kodak Theater, where every year the Academy Awards are held. The Kodak shopping center is also a treat, offering luxury boutiques, fun dining experiences and even the popular Build-a-Bear workshop. Across the street from the Chinese Theater is the El Capitan, an old style movie theater with special pre movie shows and a classic pipe organ that is still played for the moviegoers. Next to the El Capitan, you can attend the filming of the Jimmy Kimmel Show. All the while, you can gaze at the Hollywood sign, day or night!

The best way to see all these great Southern California sights is through American Express Travel Deals, which will combine air, hotel and car rental into a great package. This way, travelers can see the amazing wonders of Southern California on their own time. It’s not impossible to see it all!

Dude, this is so rad you won’t believe it! It’s a 42-minute IMAX movie made by MacGillivray Freeman Films, the same guys who made that Everest film, and it is awesome. They filmed all kinds of cool stuff that people do in California–you know, like skysurfing, extreme surfing (dude, wait till you check out the size of these waves!), climbing monster sequoia trees, and walking up to the top of the Golden Gate Bridge. There’s a piece about Walt Disney and the first Mickey Mouse cartoon, too. And even if you don’t have an IMAX theater in your house, you can still see how amazing the film techniques they used to shoot this stuff are (in fact, there’s a 24-minute documentary explaining how they did it). And to top it off, the narration is read by Jimmy Smits, and there are a few tunes by Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. Man, this is sweet. –Sam Graham >>Read More

Of all the adventures available to us whether we are 3 or 30 the adventure that most people want is a Disneyland vacations. Most of the movies we have seen from Aladdin to the Jungle Book come alive at the Disneyland Parks.

There are two Disneyland theme parks that you can visit. They are Disneyland Park and Disneyland California Adventure. In Disneyland Park you can meet Mickey at his house and get a tour to see how he lives. You can go back in time to 1935 with Indiana Jones and see what he sees in the jungles of India’s lost Delta. At night you will “Remember, Dreams Come True” in a beautiful fireworks display. The Sylvania Parade of Dreams will top off your evening here. A great way to start off your Disneyland vacations.

If you are interested in seeing shows, seeing stories about California or experiencing events from Hollywood, then you want to go to the Disneyland California Adventure. This theme park is a little different because it gives you an opportunity to check out all things Disney that was in movies or cartoons. One great fun experience is Toy Story Mania. You get to put on 3-D glasses and ride through the area playing all kinds of games as you go.

For those Twilight Zone fans you might try the ghoulish ride in the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. It will take you to the Tower of the hotel that was struck by lightening and tell you what happened. Next, you will plunge into the story and see ghosts and different atmospheres that were once a part of The Twilight Zone.

Generally speaking it is a good idea to choose a package when your Disneyland vacations because your accommodations and tickets to the Park will be in the same package and it will save you money. As an example, you can get a Dream Vacation package and it will include your accommodations, tickets to the park, Disney character calls from Minnie, Mickey or Goofy and other items that are exclusive to this package.

When you go from June through Labor Day, Christmastime through Labor Day or during Spring Break you will go during peak tourist times. If you go any other time you will go during the off season.

If your intention is to ride every ride, stand in long lines and higher hotel prices then you will want to go during the on season. However if you want lower hotel prices and shorter lines you will risk some of the rides being closed during the off season.

The good news is that whenever you go, you will have fun.

When you go to Disneyland vacations plan ahead. Check the best deals through travel agents and online travel stores to see where you can get the best deal and the best package. May through September will be the best times to go because the lines will be shorter and you can still ride all the rides. However, you can expect the weather to be a bit balmy. The best way to see the park is to take a week or two and experience ass much as you can.

Celebrate Walt Disney and his magical vision with this look back at several of the most memorable hours from his groundbreaking television shows. As its friendly, approachable host, Disney endeared himself to millions and became much more than an icon for family entertainment. He became Uncle Walt. Join Walt as he celebrates the rededication of Disneyland with a parade of celebrities and guest stars, the fourth anniversary of his weekly show featuring a surprise party arranged by the Mouseketeers, and a tenth anniversary program showcasing some of his talented Imagineers at work. And in a rare interview, Diane Disney Miller shares warm and personal memories of growing up with the man we all admired from afar.More than a time-capsule treasure for Disney buffs, this two-disc set will warm the nostalgic hearts of baby boomers who eagerly looked forward to their weekly visits with “Uncle Walt” Disney. As the host of his anthology series, Disneyland (later Walt Disney Presents, then The Wonderful World of Color), Disney presented classic cartoons and original programs, but he also gave starry-eyed viewers a privileged, behind-the-scenes look inside his magic kingdom, from the construction of his magnificent theme park to animators at work. Disneyland transformed Disney into the face of Disney Studios, a pied piper, according to film historian Leonard Maltin, who introduces the features on each disc. This collection of episodes features Disney at his most avuncular. “Where Do the Stories Come From” (1956) is a fun exploration of where Disney artists find their inspiration. “Fourth Anniversary Show” (1951) charts the development of the Disney featurette, Peter and the Wolf, but then becomes a surprise-party musical extravaganza for Disney hosted by his Mouseketeers, and featuring appearances by Guy “Zorro” Williams and Fess “Davy Crockett” Parker. Long-thought lost, “Kodak Presents Disneyland ‘59,” is a black and white kinescope recording of a live, 90-min. television special (compete with entertaining Kodak commercials featuring Ozzie and Harriet Nelson and sons) that serves to introduce three new attractions to Disneyland: the Nautilus submarine ride, the Monorail and the Matterhorn. Look for rising stars Clint Eastwood and Dennis Hopper among parade participants. “Backstage Party” (1961) is a visit to the set of Disney’s production of Babes in Toyland, with appearances by the film’s stars, including Annette Funicello, Ed Wynn, and Ray Bolger. “Disneyland 10th Anniversary” (1965), previously released on the now-out-of-print Disneyland U.S.A. set, introduces the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and It’s a Small World rides, and shows how “space-age” technology was used to create the Enchanted Tiki Room. Disc 2’s extras include a true rarity, a 1962 Cinemascope film presentation created to accompany a Disney Radio City Music Hall stage show. Another delight is “I Captured the King of the Leprechauns,” a 1959 Disneyland episode tied to the release of the feature Darby O’Gill and the Little People (and included as a bonus feature on that DVD). This whimsical bit of blarney follows Disney to Ireland in search of “the little people.” Movie tough guy Pat O’Brien sends him off with a charming song about leprechauns, just a small sample of these episodes’ endearing and enduring hokey charms. –Donald Liebenson >>Read More

Though it’s neither as comprehensive nor as elegantly presented as The Music of Disney: A Legacy in Song, this compilation is an enjoyable sampler of music from Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Naturally, the music’s good for reliving memories of the parks, but when listened to at home, the best selections reveal previously unnoticed complexity. The oldest recordings, like “The Tiki Tiki Room” and “Grim Grinning Ghosts” (from the Haunted Mansion ride), are seamless show tunes that grapple inventively with the limitations of analog and mono. And the Main Street Electrical Parade theme song is a freaked-out Moog marathon that must be heard to be believed. This disc offers one of the best uses yet for your CD player’s “program” function–pick out the songs like you’d pick out a ride, and never wait in line! –John Sanchez >>Read More

Walt Disney World and Disneyland are renowned for their time-honored hospitality and wide scope of entertainment opportunities which make them some of the most popular vacation destinations in the world. So it’s probably not a big leap that when you ask most people to think of a theme park, the first thought that comes to their minds is “Disney”. This is not an accident or coincidence.

Disney theme parks aren’t known as the places where “fantasies come true” for nothing, both for Disney fans and theme park enthusiasts alike. Walt Disney World and Disneyland parks are full of compelling, believable detail and home to countless characters that have beguiled generations for more than 50 years. They are synonymous with the great American family day out, so it’s no wonder that most adults associate the whole experience with childhood memories and take their own children back again and again.

They want you to come back and, believe me; you’ll want to go back. The kicker to going back repeatedly is that it can be a little (O.K., a lot!) cost prohibitive. There’s also alot to do and see at a Disney theme park so don’t try to do everything all in one trip because you may not recover! If you’re planning an upcoming trip to one of the parks, spend a little time now and not big bucks later by doing a few things that are quick, easy and, better yet, free.

1.	Walt Disney World and Disneyland vacation planning has spawned its own cottage industry and there are several websites dedicated to helping you plan the best vacation for you and yours. There are several travel agencies that specialize in Disney vacations as well as purely informational websites. Almost all of them have newsletters that you can subscribe to that can be full of special travel deals or just great information.

2.	Visit all the major airlines and sign up for their weekly email specials. Southwest Airlines usually has great deals on airfare and has an excellent all-in-one online vacation planner with deals on Walt Disney World and Disneyland parks. You also can book airfare, rental cars, accommodations (even 5 bedroom rental homes), and park tickets – from their website.

3.	Check out your local library to see which “unofficial” Disney vacation guides they may have, especially if you don’t have that much vacation time and want to get really familiar with the park before you go. Most guides have a “must do’s” section for each park to help you make the most of your trip. I would also recommend the book ‘Disney on a Dime’ by Chris and Kristal Carlson. They are fierce Disney World visitors and have a lot of helpful information and insights on getting the most bang for your buck.

4.	Do you already belong to AAA Auto Club, AARP, Sam’s Club or Costco? These club memberships and others like them offer a lot more benefits than just the obvious ones so be sure to check into them. Go to their websites and see what travel specials that they may offer. You can get member discounts on Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme park tickets, rental cars, hotels and even complete vacation packages. Since you’re paying for the membership anyway, you might as well take advantage of it!

5.	Disney makes it pretty simple to plan a vacation, especially when you use their all-in-one online trip planning guide. Although you may find better deals elsewhere, it’s still a good idea to sign up for their email alerts. They are, after all, the experts on all things Disney. Be sure to request a free trip planning DVD. It’s excellent and serves as a great “video memory book” for your kids once they get home from the vacation!

These are good places to start, especially to get an idea of how much money you’re going to need. The bottom line is start now! Some of the special events are booked months in advance and the sooner you start planning, the better!

Disneyland vacations are magical experiences to share with all of your family members regardless of their ages. Disneyland vacations are guaranteed to never disappoint and always have something for everyone.

Disneyland vacations are full of fun games, Disney characters, and amusement park rides. If it is adventure that your family seeks, head on over to Adventure Land and take your family through a dangerous jungle ride. If your family is more the daring type, grab whips and hats and catch a jeep ride through the thrilling Indiana Jones and The Temple of the Forbidden Eye.

For the younger ones, Disneyland vacations provide a chance to meet Disney idols and stars. In Mickey’s Toon Town children can ride on the Jolly Trolley and see the sites. They can see Donald Duck’s boat or wander through Mickey’s and Minnie’s houses. There are so many buttons and gadgets to play with in Toon Town and for once, you won’t have to tell your kids to keep their hands to themselves.

Disney vacations also have a quieter element. If you and your family are looker for something less adventurous and more laid back, Critter Country is for you. Critter Country is home to the famous Splash Mountain based on Disney’s Song of the South, film. Riders of Splash Mountain sit in log-looking carts and are taken through a series of dark segments, encountering several characters from the film. Critter Country is also home to the Country Bear Jamboree.

Disneyland vacations have the magical element that can take your back to your childhood. Fantasy Land is the home to many of Disney’s older characters. In Fantasy Land, you can experience Alice in Wonderland’s Mad Hatter’s tea party. There you can go on Dumbo’s Flying Ride, see Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, witness Snow White’s Scary Adventure, and walk through Storybook Land. You can flashback to your childhood once more by watching It’s a Small World After All Theater.

Disneyland vacations are no longer for families with children. Disneyland is couple friendly. Whether you are an older couple whose children are grown, or a couple that just walked down the aisle, you’ll experience magical romantic potential inside Disney.

So, you haven’t experienced what Disneyland vacations have to offer yet? Well what are you waiting for? There is no better time than today to plan your family’s Disneyland vacation. In the age of internet, planning your perfect vacation could not be any easier. First go to Disneyland’s official website and check for park hours, events, concerts, and ticket prices. Check the Disneyland website to see if there are any promotions running. You can book your hotel room online from travel sites and search for discounts on everything from airfare to park admission. The best thing about Disneyland vacations is that they do not have to be expensive.

For the last several years Alaska Airlines has offered a program where kids fly free to Disneyland. United Airlines and Southwest Airlines are starting the program as well. Check with the airlines to see when the program runs. With deals like these, how can you not afford to take those Disneyland vacations?

I have been to Disneyland nearly twenty times over my life. During each trip, I have picked up a few pointers to help make your vacation even more magical. These pointers should be your guide to your next Disneyland vacation.

The number one piece of advice that I can give you is to invest in a multi-day park hopper pass. Now that there are two parks on the Disneyland Resort, there is so much more to see and do. I would suggest that you get a 3 day pass at the very minimum. If you are going to be in town longer you can get a 4 or 5 day pass as well. This allows you and your family to see every attraction, show, parade, ride, and event in each park. You won’t feel rushed at all and you will be able to have a more magical experience with your family.

One thing that Disney has implemented in the last ten years is the Fast Pass. The first time I visited Disneyland while on vacation after the Fast Pass was implemented, I was so stoked! With the Fast Pass, you are issued a ticket, or place in line and then you come back at a later time and get right on the ride. This is something that you need to plan out as you can only have one Fast Pass at a time. Strategy is key!

When planning your Disneyland vacations, you need to buy your tickets as soon as you decide to go. If you purchase them beforehand, you will have access to specials not available at the gate.

If you are planning on visiting Disneyland on vacation during the off season, you need to schedule your trip with at least one weekend day spent at the resort. The reason for this is the amazing fireworks show that only takes place on the weekends. During the peak season, they have fireworks every night.

If you are looking for a free snack while visiting Disneyland make sure to visit the Bakery Tour and the Mission Tortilla Factory in the California Adventure theme park. During this tour you will learn how sourdough bread and tortillas are made and learn how great they taste when they are fresh!

If you are looking for face-to-face character interaction, make sure that you make a reservation for a character meal. If you want to wine and dine with the princesses, you need to reserve a seat at Ariel’s Grotto. You can also eat with other characters at Goofy’s Kitchen. These are always a favorite for my family and the kids are in heaven when eating with characters.

The most important thing that you need to do is enjoy your time spent with your kids and other family members. These are truly the moments and memories that will last a lifetime.

Spanning the entire history of the park, from its founding more than 50 years ago to the present, this fascinating book profiles 500 attractions, restaurants, stores, events, and significant people from the history of Disneyland®. Each of the main entries in the book examines in detail the history of a Disneyland® landmark, including how many of the most popular attractions went through several incarnations before becoming what they are today—Tomorrowland’s Hall of Chemistry and Hall of Aluminum were transformed into the groundbreaking Adventure Thru Inner Space in 1967, and then became the popular ride Star Tours 20 years later. Read about unbuilt concepts, including Rock Candy Mountain and Chinatown, and delight in fascinating trivia about the park, such as ride statistics and attendance records. With a daily list of events, openings, and closings in the park’s history, a yearly summary of attractions that came and went, simple and clear maps that correspond to the book’s 500 entries, and sidebars with additional information on each ride, this is a comprehensive and entertaining book overflowing with detail on the most-renovated, most-loved, and most-visited theme park in the world. >>Read More

You have probably heard a few “interesting facts” about Disneyland over the years. Perhaps you’ve heard that Walt Disney kept an apartment on Main Street? Or that there is a secret, members-only club in New Orleans Square? It’s all true… but these are only two of the interesting facts pointed out in “101 Things You Never Knew About Disneyland.” Many of the stories here deal with more obscure, yet equally interesting, histories of Disneyland. In fact, the majority of the material comes straight from interviews with the Imagineers who helped to build, maintain, and revitalize Disneyland. The book pays special attention to the inside jokes and hidden references to Disneyland’s past, as these samples illustrate: Do you know which play on words pays tribute to a former Mexican restaurant at a certain site? Do you know how Tarzan’s Treehouse honors its predecessor in two different ways? Do you know what is so unusual about the decorations atop “It’s a Small World”? Do you know why one palm tree in Adventureland is special? Do you know what the sign says at the bottom of Splash Mountain’s big drop? Do you know which pumpkin is an homage to a Disneyland official? It’s a certainty that you haven’t heard all these stories before. Although there are 101 such highlighted stories, each comes with a fuller description and is followed by a second story that is thematically related, so this volume really offers 202 Things you haven’t heard about Disneyland before. You will find these facts delightful and unforgettable once you’ve heard them! >>Read More

On July 17 1955 Walt Disney opened the gates to Disneyland(R) the beloved American icon that has become a cherished destination for generations. It was also the day Walt’s sixteen-year dream came true. The centerpiece of this volume is a captivating and nostalgic film that takes you inside that dream. Rare archival footage new interviews with key people and Walt’s own words reveal how his innovative vision became a reality. Then discover more Disneyland(R) secrets with a fun-filled trivia game and relive the magic of the recently restored PEOPLE AND PLACES: DISNEYLAND U.S.A. presented in CinemaScope with a new 5.1 audio mix. Featuring exclusive introductions by film historian Leonard Maltin this is a timeless collection from generations past for generations to come.System Requirements:Running Time: 332 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: CHILDREN/FAMILY Rating: NR UPC: 786936702057Originally conceived as a fiftieth anniversary tribute to Disneyland, this 332-minute DVD set celebrates Walt Disney’s vision and drive in imagining, building, and marketing America’s first-ever theme park. This compilation offers fascinating insight into Walt Disney’s enormous undertaking through the documentary “The Secrets, Stories, and Magic of Disneyland,” the retrospective “Operation Disneyland,” three episodes from “The Wonderful World of Color” television series, one “People and Places” episode, and a collection of historical time-lapse construction footage from Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Leonard Maltin and Julie Andrews provide an introduction to the 80-minute “Secrets, Stories, and Magic” which details Walt Disney’s initial vision for Disneyland, considered to be “Walt’s Folly” by many Disney Studio employees, and the various stages of the park’s planning and construction culminating in its grand opening on July 17, 1955. Extensive new and vintage footage address virtually every aspect of the conception and realization of Disneyland from the original site plan and concept art to the tight construction schedule, logistical problems during construction and on opening day, the development of new enhanced motion vehicle technology for the rides, and the shelved ideas that make up the “Disneyland that never was.” Extensive interview footage includes Walt Disney, George Lucas, Roy Disney, artist Herb Ryman, retired president of Disneyland Jack Lindquist, composer Richard Sherman, and many others. After an interactive Disneyland trivia game that’s none-to-easy even in the beginner mode, it’s on to a restored version of the 1956 “People and Places: Disneyland USA” episode which highlights Walt Disney’s goal that Disneyland serve as a place of enlightenment, happiness, and the pursuit of fun and takes viewers on a slow-paced exploration of the five areas of Disneyland. Modern audiences might be inclined to condemn this particular feature as a 42-minute-long Disneyland commercial, but in 1956 it functioned more as an exploration of a distant place that many around the world had never had the opportunity to visit. Disc two begins with “Operation Disneyland,” a 14-minute black and white documentary produced for ABC closed circuit television which looks at the technical aspects of broadcasting the opening ceremonies of Disneyland on live television. Never intended for public viewing, the program offers an interesting and historically valuable look back at the mechanics of live television in the 1950’s. Next are three episodes of Walt Disney’s weekly program “The Wonderful World of Color.” “The Golden Horseshoe Revue” features the 10,000th vaudeville-inspired performance at Disneyland’s The Golden Horseshoe Saloon with Betty Taylor, Wally Boag, Gene Sheldon, Ed Wynn, and former Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeer Annette Funicello. “Disneyland Goes to the World’s Fair” details Disney’s contributions to the New York World’s Fair of 1964-1965 including the creation of “It’s A Small World” for UNICEF, “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln,” and the “Primeval World” audio-animatronic dinosaurs currently on exhibit in the Disneyland Railroad. “Disneyland Around the Seasons” celebrates Disneyland’s 11th year with a look at special holiday programming at Disneyland. Finally, footage from several time-lapse cameras scattered throughout Disneyland during the park’s construction is presented with narration by Tony Baxter from Disney Imagineering, and Ed Hobbleman and Walter Magnuson from the Disney Studio Inventory Group. Just about everything one could ever want to know about the history of Disneyland is right here in this thorough Disney collection. –Tami Horiuchi >>Read More

Disneyland first opened in July 1955 and has since brought magic into the lives of every visitor who has passed through their gates. Since it opened over 50 years ago, Disneyland has seen over 515 million guests enjoy the atmosphere that so many of us love and visit so often. After a visit to the magical kingdom, you will counting the days until you and your family can return and experience it again.

The Disneyland Resort is located in Anaheim, California, with easy access from Interstate 5. The Disneyland Resort is home to two theme parks, three 5-star hotels, and Downtown Disney. Each theme park features rides, themed areas and attractions that provide a magical experience for your entire family.

Disneyland, the original park consists of six different areas, or lands as they are called. Upon entering Disneyland you will find yourself on Main Street, U.S.A. Immediately, you will be emerged in 20th century America. You will see double deck buses driving around the area, arcades, and the building even look old school. It is definitely a site to see.

Immediately following Main Street, if you take a left, you will find yourself in Adventureland. This is an area which is all about the tropical theme. In this land you will find the Tiki Room, Indiana Jones Adventure, Tarzan Tree House, and the Jungle Cruise. You will literally be taken from real life and feel as though you are in a jungle.

If you happen to take a right off main street, you will find yourself stepping away from today and entering the future in Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is home to one of the most loves rides, Space Mountain. You will also find Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters to be very fun and entertaining for the whole family.

Frontierland is one of my favorite since it is home to the Thunder Mountain Railroad. This ride is definitely one that shouldn’t be missed by anyone. The whole land feels as though you just left the present and enter the Wild, Wild, West. Filled with saloons and places to practice your target shooting, you will feel as though you should be in tight pants, a flannel shirt, and chaps.

Fantasyland is one that will be loved by most little children. Fantasyland’s main entrance is through Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. Immediately you are taken away from real life and into a fantasy. You will find all of the little rides for the children like Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. It is also home to the Matterhorn Bobsleds and the brand new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.

The last major area of Disneyland is ToonTown. If your children love Mickey Mouse and his gang, they will love to see where they live. ToonTown is a bust for adults, but nothing brings me more happiness than to see little children jump for joy and excitement when they get all the way through Mickey’s house and see him and the end.

Disneyland is truly a magical place and one that can be enjoyed by all. I try to visit the resort with my family once a year. You should really consider it for your next vacation. Your family will thank you forever!

Art Linkletter, renowned TV personality and host of the live Disneyland opening day TV broadcast on July 17, 1955, recalled his first impression of Disneyland. “Walt brought me down here to Anaheim when Disneyland was under construction and it was nothing but dirt roads and orange groves, the Santa Ana Freeway wasn’t even completed,” said Linkletter. “I didnt want to spoil Walts enthusiasm but I thought Geez!
Sing, dance, and play along with your favorite Disney songs! It’s fun and easy as you read the on-screen lyrics and join your favorite characters in their most memorable musical moments! Sing along to the happiest songs on earth at the happiest place on earth — Disneyland! Your host, Mr. Owl, invites you to celebrate a musical day with all your favorite Disney friends. Join Mickey and Minnie for fun and thrills as they hustle and bustle behind the scenes at the park! Then get a front-row seat on some of the wildest rides, like Star Tours, Splash Mountain and the Matterhorn, with Chip ‘n’ Dale, Roger Rabbit, and a Magic Kingdom filled with sing-along adventures. It’s easy to see why this is one of the bestselling sing-alongs from Disney: it plays like the ultimate family-vacation home movie. Instead of fleeting glimpses of your favorite characters on your home videos of Disneyland, this 27-minute episode showcases Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, and their friends hanging out with kids inside the Magic Kingdom singing (well, their lips don’t move) such popular songs as ” Zip a Dee Do Dah,” “It’s a Small World,” and “Step in Time” with the lyrics appearing on screen for youngsters. The one drawback is the video was shot in 1990, so none of the newer rides are shown, and worse yet, some older rides seen aren’t around anymore (“Mom, why didn’t we go on the submarine?”). Perhaps that isn’t a drawback since, despite the age, and some truly unknown songs (“Making Memories”), the program continues to be popular. –Doug Thomas >>Read More
